What makes COD4 so great that it’s still one of the most played PC CODs on the market? Let’s see: Call of Duty 4 is the game that made Call of Duty what it is today, with the exception of the servers you could choose from and join based off of amount of players, game mode, whether it was hard or soft core, or even if you just liked the map. Not only this, but server are able to be modded and you can even change some settings in the server without even needing mods, such as making a low gravity server, so you could even have a high jump (technically) vanilla server. With nothing to take away from the game, like World at War’s Nazi Zombies, (other than the campaign) the game has remained heavily multiplayer pvp, and while there are hackers, as with any game, the majority of people are honorable and play purely off of skill (or lack thereof, like me).
Not only is it one of the most consistent Call of Duty multiplayer games, there are also thousands of multiplayer server, with thousands of players on them all the time. There still remain COD4 based clans that compete regularly in TCC leagues and other things such as those. Call of Duty 4 also has some of the most realistic feeling combat, especially in hardcore servers, due to not needing half of a mag to kill somebody. If you hit them, it takes, usually, two to three shots at the most.
COD4 remains one of my favorite games of all time and is at the top of my list as far as Call of Duty games go, not to mention shooters in general.
